Peacocks are Love <3

From the peacock maxi dress from the last post, to this peacock printed top, it’s obvious that my love for the print is just too much :))

Wore this last sunday during a family day out :) It was fathers’ day and my papa’s birthday, then my mom’s birthday the day after so we had a triple celebration! I changed into leggings come night time for a very random drinking session with my friends! It was crazy! :D

Born to be Wild

Last Saturday, my friend JV celebrated his 23rd birthday, Safari style!

Since this is a Safari-themed party, me and my friends dressed in animal prints and ala zoo-keepers. All of us were competitive with our costumes because there was an awarding ceremony for the best dressed people, even the worst dressed! LOL. Here’s me, Daph and Charisse preparing for the event.

JV booked Guillean’s Place in Antipolo because we wanted a pool party too. And I must say, the place is perfect for the safari theme! Here are some photos from the party.

We also had to “walk the runway” before the awarding! I kinda hosted that part haha! Here are some of the runway photos:

I was the only peacock in the bunch and i won the “Queen of the Wild” award or best dressed female! :D Here’s what i wore.

Bazaar dress, DIY Peacock Feathers bib necklace, Charles and Keith heels, Forever21 ring and Quipao bangles.

(Okay, the right-hand-on-the-waist was my pose the whole night because i don’t want my arms to look flabby in pictures haha! :P)

We also had “King of the Wild” for the best dressed male and “Prince and Princess of the Wild” for the runners up.

Afterwards, we spent the whole night drinking, swimming and goofing around! :)

This is the second time my friends and I decided to have theme party. The first one was a music awards theme which was conducted last May. This July we’re gonna celebrate 3 birthdays in one party where we’ll go as movie characters! Theme parties with the FOOS (my high school clique) are so much fun! :)

No Goobyes, just “See you later” :)

Wore this last monday with the family when we brought my brother to the seminary school. We won’t be able to see him everyday like we used to which is the sad part. But on a more positive view, at least we’ll be able to be with him once a month here at home. :) Hence, the title.

About the outfit. I opted for something easy and comfortable since it was blazing hot that day. Bought this pretty mustard top from Kookie aka deathbyplatforms at the blogger’s united bazaar a couple of weeks ago. It’s so comfy, even my mom loves it! :D

Philippine Fashion Week FW2011 - Day 7

Here’s what i wore to the last day of PFW last week. I decided to don a monochromatic look since shades of beige and nude are still in right now. I also chose this cream dress since the white/cream lace trend has just arrived and soon-to-be popular here :)

After watching the show, we (my sister and her friend joanne) dropped by the L’Oreal Paris booth and had free cocktails and make-up sessions. (Sorry for the wrong date stamp on the succeeding photos though :P)

My sister had a make-over too!

Thanks to L’Oreal and my make-up artist, Jane Mercado!

This is my “before-the-makeover” face during the show, with very minimal make-up. :)

Afterwards, we had dinner at David’s Tea House. The food was awesome! (Which we didn’t take of picture of because we were super hungry already :P)

We had an awesome time! Can’t wait for next season’s fashion week! :)

Because thrifting is a bliss.

I admit it. I’m a shopaholic. I am one to the extent that i feel an urge to buy any article of clothing EVERY SINGLE DAY. Yes, I’m sick like that.

Shopping is my only therapy. Even when i’m broke, i still find a way to get my “medication”. The cheapest (but still overly effective) is thrifting. :)

Since my “illness” attacked me today, I went to the nearest thrift shop to remedy the situation :P I’ll show you what i got!

Say hello to my 85 PESOS loot!

Vintage shirt dress = 10 Pesos

Lace dress (New) = 40 Pesos

Striped shirt dress = 35 Pesos

Can’t wait to wear these out soon! :))

Philippine Fashion Week FW2011 - Day 6

This fashion week, i decided to be trendy (for once) and wear outfits/styles i have never worn before. So for Day 6, i went for the hottest trend right now which is color blocking. I haven’t worn an outfit this colorful so i hope i did well :)

The photo above was taken at the backstage area of the Candie’s Philippines fashion show. I was able to help a bit with the preparations for the show a couple of weeks before PFW. The show was full of eye candy, colorful pieces and was conducted inside the skating rink! Amazing, yes? :D Congrats to all my friends and the people behind one of the best shows (if not the best show) this season! :)

I was testing the ruffled and sequined jacket (which I made as a project last semester) with the outfit in my friend’s room. Brought this in case the temperature inside the skating rink gets really cold :)

Graduation Day

Hey all! It’s been a while since I last updated here. I’m more active on my chictopia account (chictopia.com/yanie) but I’ll try to post here more often.

BTW, Thanks to all the people who followed me even though I was in hiatus. I thought that was sweet so i followed y’all back :)

For the real post, let me share to you what i wore to my graduation day.

I designed the dress and had my favorite seamstress make it. My school, University of the Philippines, required us to wear a Filipiniana (the Philippines’ traditional dress) or any formal dress in white, beige or ecru only. I first thought of wearing a Filipiniana since i never had the chance to wear one. However, i decided that I want something bodycon and with a lot of drapes. I also a preferred a dress that i can use again to another event, so i designed something more versatile. I applied my favorite design details on this dress particularly the cowl sleeves, sweetheart neckline and the pegged skirt. :)

I accessorized the look with gold accessories. This is the first time after a year (or two) since i wore dangling earrings! I’m not an earrings person, if you observed that in my posts. I borrowed my mom’s Chanel watch which i always use for special occasions like this. :D

Glitter in Grey

Thrifted sequined bolero jacket, Divi lace dress, DIY necklace, Oro sheer stockings and Privileged shoes.

I’m a total fan of all-grey outfits, simply because i don’t usually see it around. I also take it as an alternative to all black outfits. A lot of fashionistas all over the world don all black and look gorgeous in it though. I love black so much too, but wearing it from head to toe doesn’t really suit me (believe me, i tried :P).

The jacket is one of my most prized thrifted finds. Upon first inspection of it, i immediately realized that it is not something off-the-rack. The seams inside are very clean, which are machine sewn and then hand sewn to a neat finish. The edges, though not obvious, are hand beaded with around 2mm beads in 3 layers. On the other hand, the dress is one of my recent purchases from divi. Yes, i’m a sucker for sheer, shiny and lace clothing :)

My first reward from Chictopia

Finally got to wear this lovely embellished cardigan i got last new year, courtesy of Chictopia and QI Cashmere! Thanks a lot! I really love it! :))

Qi cashmere embellished cardigan, What Women Want pearl bib necklace, DIY lace sweatheart tube top, thrifted skirt and Parisian heels

And i have just redeemed another one! From QI cashmere again! i’m soooo excited for it’s arrival! I stayed up till 5am just to make sure i’m the first one to redeem it :D

Gorgeous, isn’t it? :)

Thanks so much again, QI Cashmere and Chictopia for giving us a chance to get clothes like these for free :))

Rip it to shreds

Shredded knit dress, chained bag and bib necklace from divi, Black sweetheart lace tube top by Me, Bandage skit from People are people, Peep-toe and cut-out studded booties from Figliarina

Wore this to a casual party with my friends. I wore flats with it to school then changed to heels come night time :))

The shredded knit top and bag are actually from divi, both for a steal! My cousins treated me to a shopping spree there! <3 I went home with 5 pieces of clothes and that bag, all for 2500 :D
